Class Description: Fair Isle, that wonderful technique from across the seas, makes plain circular knitting into a fantastic landscape of color and design. Come and learn the simple techniques that define Fair Isle. Using only two colors per row, you can create the most amazing knitted items that will dazzle and amaze your friends. Whether you use the natural colors of wool (cream, black, gray, brown), or the most vividly dyed yarns, Fair Isle will give you the most color bang for your buck. This class will focus on the basics of the actual technique rather than the placement of color.
Students Should Bring: HOMEWORK listed below; two or three contrasting colors of worsted weight wool yarn; Set of 4 or 5 size 7 OR 8 OR 9 double-pointed needles (whichever size works best for you with your yarn).
HOMEWORK: With Main Color yarn, cast on 48 sts. Divide onto 3 or 4 needles and join, being careful not to twist sts. Work K1, P1 ribbing for 1.5" to 2". Knit two rows plain. Bring your homework to class along with your yarn and needles.
